2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma Auto Start Stop Eliminator | Plug & Play
Description
2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma Auto Start Stop Eliminator
The Toyota Tacoma Stop & Start Engine System can automatically shut the engine off while the truck is stationary and restart it as driving resumes. Toyota provides a factory Stop & Start cancel switch, identified by the familiar A-OFF symbol, for drivers who want the system disabled.
The problem for drivers who routinely prefer Stop & Start OFF is that the factory cancel setting is not retained permanently. Toyota states that if Stop & Start is disabled using the cancel switch, the system is automatically enabled again after the engine is switched off and restarted.
The Recontrol-X Auto Start Stop Eliminator changes that startup routine by automatically placing the system in the OFF state when the vehicle starts, while leaving the factory A-OFF switch available for normal manual control.
Auto Stop OFF at Startup
No repeated A-OFF routine: If you normally disable Stop & Start every time you drive, the module handles that startup action automatically.
Factory switch remains functional: Press the original A-OFF button whenever you want to re-enable Stop & Start during that drive.
No permanent delete or ECU tune: This product works through the factory switch circuit. It is better described as a plug-in memory/eliminator module than as a permanent removal of the factory system.
Current dedicated 2024–2026 Tacoma products use this same customer-facing logic: automatically turn Stop & Start off at startup while retaining the original button for manual reactivation.
5.98-Inch Inline Harness
The supplied module measures approximately:
5.98 inches / 152 mm overall
The compact harness combines a control module with two matching factory-style connectors so it can sit inline behind the center-console Stop & Start switch.
This is not an engine-bay bypass and does not require an unrelated sensor to remain disconnected.
Center-Console Plug-In Installation
Installation is performed at the A-OFF / Stop & Start cancel switch beside the shifter and drive-mode controls.
The supplied procedure shows:
1. Switch the engine completely OFF before installation.
2. Use the included plastic pry tool to carefully release the center-console trim around the switch panel.
3. Lift the switch panel enough to access the connector underneath.
4. Disconnect the original factory connector from the Stop & Start switch assembly.
5. Connect the Recontrol-X module inline between the original harness and factory switch.
6. Make sure both connectors are completely seated and arrange the module so the panel can reinstall without pinching the wiring.
7. After the initial installation, wait approximately 20 seconds before starting the vehicle.
8. Start the Tacoma and confirm that the A-OFF indicator illuminates.
That final indicator check is important because it gives the customer a simple way to verify the module is performing its intended startup action.
No Permanent Wiring Modification
No cutting the factory harness
No wire splicing
No ECU reflash
No permanent modification of the A-OFF switch
The module can be removed later by unplugging it and reconnecting the original switch connector directly.
Factory Button Control Is Retained
Installing the eliminator does not mean Stop & Start can never be used again.
When the truck starts, the module is designed to place the system in the canceled/OFF state automatically.
If you want Stop & Start active for a particular drive, press the factory A-OFF switch again.
That is a much more accurate product promise than calling the device a permanent “delete.”
Vehicle Fitment
Designed for:
2024 Toyota Tacoma
2025 Toyota Tacoma
2026 Toyota Tacoma
Trim and engine coverage are not separately listed for this product.
Important Equipment Check
Confirm the truck actually has the factory A-OFF / Stop & Start cancel switch before ordering.
Toyota itself describes the Tacoma Stop & Start system as “if equipped.”
That means the presence of the physical switch shown in the installation images is a more useful purchase check than assuming every truck with the correct year needs this module.
What This Module Is Not
This product is intended for a normally functioning Stop & Start system that the driver prefers to keep OFF by default.
It is not designed to repair:
Stop & Start System Malfunction messages
A continuously flashing Stop & Start cancel indicator
Existing electrical faults
Starting problems
Battery or charging-system problems
Toyota's Tacoma documentation treats a continuously flashing cancel indicator or a “Stop & Start System Malfunction” message as a system fault that should be diagnosed separately.

S&Q
Does this Auto Start Stop Eliminator fit my 2024-2026 Toyota Tacoma?
It is designed for 2024, 2025, and 2026 Toyota Tacoma applications with the factory Stop & Start system. Before ordering, confirm your truck has the A-OFF / Stop & Start cancel switch shown in the product images. Do not order based on model year alone if that switch is not present.
Will I still need to press A-OFF every time I start my Tacoma?
No. The module is designed to automatically place Stop & Start in the OFF state at startup, so you do not have to repeat the same cancel-button press on every drive. Toyota's factory system normally re-enables after the engine is switched off and restarted.
Can I turn Stop & Start back on after installing the module?
Yes. The factory A-OFF button remains functional. If you want Stop & Start active for a particular drive, press the original button to re-enable it. The module changes the startup preference rather than permanently removing the factory feature.
Where does the module install, and do I need to cut wires?
It installs behind the A-OFF switch in the center-console/shifter trim panel. Carefully lift the trim with a plastic pry tool, unplug the factory switch connector, and insert the 5.98-inch module inline. No cutting or splicing of the original wiring is required.
How do I know the installation worked correctly?
After the initial installation, leave the vehicle off for approximately 20 seconds, then start the truck. The supplied installation procedure uses the illuminated A-OFF indicator as the confirmation that the Stop & Start cancel state has been activated. If you already have a flashing warning indicator or system-malfunction message before installation, diagnose that problem separately.
