2023-2025 GMC Canyon Auto Start Stop Memory Module | Plug & Play
Description
2023-2025 GMC Canyon Auto Start Stop Memory Module
The GMC Canyon's factory Automatic Stop/Start system can turn the engine off when the truck reaches a complete stop and restart it when driving resumes.
GMC provides an Auto Stop/Start disable switch, but the factory selection only applies temporarily. Stop/Start is enabled again each time the Canyon is started.
The Recontrol-X Auto Start Stop Memory Module is designed for drivers who normally prefer Auto Stop OFF and want that preference restored automatically rather than repeating the same button press every trip.
Auto Stop OFF Without Removing Driver Control
Restores the preferred OFF state at startup: Designed to eliminate the repetitive A-OFF button routine.
Factory switch remains functional: Re-enable Stop/Start manually whenever you want it active.
No permanent system deletion: The module interfaces with the factory switch circuit instead of permanently changing vehicle software.
This is also the central buying reason seen in dedicated Canyon Auto Stop products: users want to stop repeating the disable action while keeping normal access to the factory control.
Dual-Length Harness Design
The physical product consists of:
Main inline harness: approximately 6.06 in / 154 mm
Auxiliary fused lead: approximately 42.83 in / 1088 mm
Integrated control module
Matching factory-style connectors
Plastic panel-removal tool
The long red auxiliary wire is part of the product's power-supply arrangement and should be routed cleanly away from moving trim or sharp edges during installation.
Switch-Circuit Installation
This RC-ASSE-29 version is designed around the factory Auto Stop/Start switch circuit, not the K9 BCM/X3 architecture used by another Recontrol-X Canyon product.
Installation involves:
Turning the truck completely off
Accessing the rear of the factory A-OFF / Auto Stop switch assembly
Disconnecting the original switch harness
Connecting the memory module inline
Routing the auxiliary fused lead to the specified interior power source
Securing the wiring before reinstalling the trim
Testing the factory A-OFF button after installation
Professional Canyon-specific eliminators similarly interface directly with the rear of the factory Stop/Start switch assembly, and customer reviews frequently mention that the tight access around the connector is a bigger issue than the electrical connection itself.
Keep the Original Button Functional
After installation, the Canyon is designed to start with the preferred Auto Stop OFF state restored automatically.
If you want Stop/Start operating again, press the factory A-OFF control normally.
This makes the product more accurately a memory module than a permanent delete device.
Vehicle Fitment
Designed for:
2023 GMC Canyon
2024 GMC Canyon
2025 GMC Canyon
No separate Trim or Engine restrictions should be added unless your official fitment data is updated.
Before Checkout
Confirm 2023-2025 GMC Canyon.
Confirm the factory Stop/Start/A-OFF control is present.
Compare the factory switch layout with the product images.
If aftermarket wiring has been added behind the dash, inspect the connection before ordering.
Follow the supplied fused-lead installation instructions instead of guessing at a power source.
Not Intended to Repair Stop/Start Problems
This is a preference-control product for a functioning Stop/Start system.
It does not repair:
Stop/Start warnings
Battery faults
Charging issues
Damaged switch wiring
Abnormal engine restarting
GMC lists battery state, climate demand, operating temperature, hood position and multiple other conditions that may independently prevent Auto Stop.

S&Q
Is this memory module compatible with my GMC Canyon?
It is designed for 2023, 2024, and 2025 GMC Canyon trucks equipped with the factory Stop/Start and A-OFF control. This listing should not be extended to 2026 unless that model year is separately confirmed for this specific product.
What happens when I restart the truck?
GMC's factory Stop/Start system normally returns to enabled after each vehicle startup. This memory module is designed to automatically restore the preferred OFF state so you do not have to repeat the same A-OFF button press every time.
Does installing the module disable the factory button?
No. The factory A-OFF button remains available. You can manually change the Stop/Start setting whenever you want the system active again.
Why does the harness have both a short module and a long red wire?
The approximately 6.06-inch section is the main inline switch module. The approximately 42.83-inch red lead supplies the module through a fused auxiliary connection. Route and connect that power lead according to the installation instructions rather than selecting a fuse location by guesswork.
Can the module be removed later?
Yes. Because the main switch connection uses matching plug-in connectors rather than cutting the factory harness, the module can be removed and the original switch connection restored. Any auxiliary power connection should also be returned to its original configuration during removal.
